THIS MOTHERS DAY........

For Mothers Day, I launched an exclusive candle and perfume oil in collaboration with Lumira, called the VOW.

"Mothers have the most important job in the world, to build the next generation. Only when we become mothers can we understand the greatest gift and the greatest sacrifice. I wouldn’t give it up for the world, nothing is more important than the ‘work’ of a mother, may we raise kind, loving, compassionate, strong and smart human beings, that will consciously bring the people of the world together so there is no poverty, no hurt and no war. I love you Zion and Gigi, I am at your service xox Mum" - Nicole Trunfio

You’d be hard pressed to find a woman who loves scented candles more than Australian-born model Nicole Trunfio. Case in point: for her 2016 Palm Springs wedding to musician Gary Clark Jr. she undertook the mammoth task of creating her very own scented candle as a thank you gift for her guests. Fast forward two years and that deep-rooted obsession has evolved organically into a collaboration with Australian fragrance company Lumira. Described as “a sensual blend of rose, magnolia, sandalwood and tobacco lightened by a citrusy lemon and grapefruit,” The Vow by Lumira x Nicole Trunfio arrives perfectly timed for her first Mother’s Day with her second child, born in January this year.

Not only is she one of Australia's most successful model exports, but Nicole Trunfio is also a business woman, and a mother to two young children, Zion, three, and Gia, who was born in January. For her latest venture, Trunfio has teamed up with Australian candle brand Lumira to create The Vow by Lumira X Nicole Trunfio, a scented candle ($65) and perfume oil ($49) designed to promote self love and positivity. Perfect timing, too, with Mother's Day just around the corner.

The collaboration was an organic one—Trunfio got in touch with Lumira to let them know she was a fan of the products, and upon hearing back, she formed a bond with Lumira founder, Almira Armstrong, instantly. "For my wedding [to musician Gary Clarke Jr], I decided to handmade candles with our own special scent for all of our guests," Trunfio tells InStyle. "Candles have always been a big passion of mine; they are the gift I always give—and expect back!—for my birthday, Christmas and special occasions. They're a much-needed indulgence to fill the home with warmth and nostalgia. Almira and I planned our collaboration using the same name as our wedding candle, The Vow, yet the meaning and scent was skewed toward the vow of self love and self care you have in order to inspire it in others and create the life you want."

Here, Trunfio tells InStyle about the collaboration…

InStyle: The Vow by Lumira x Nicole Trunfio was designed to promote self love and positivity. How do the notes in the perfume oil evoke that feeling in you?

Nicole Trunfio: "I love the mix of florals and woods. The rose is possibly the most exquisite scent alone—rose is the oil of divine love. Bergamot is the oil of self-acceptance, and Sandalwood is the oil of sacred devotion. I feel these scents combined mixed with notes of smoke, patchouli, amber and oud create a feeling of self-love, and ground us in our purpose, our inner purpose and strength. The perfume oil makes me feel connected, in some way, both to myself and to the world. My day feels a lot better when I wear it, [not only] because I get a lot of compliments on my scent, but mostly because I am rooted in the meaning of the oil, and smelling it throughout the day is a constant reminder."
